Restoration of the church in the Arkhangelsk region.

The project of restoration /reconstruction of the Vvedensky temple of the Makaryevskaya Khergozerskaya desert, dismantled in the early 1970s. The temple was built in 1786-1790 and at that time became the first stone structure of the monastery. It was a simple architectural solution, small, compact, cozy. It consisted of only three main parts: the kafolikon, to which a two-part altar with two identical large semicircular apses was attached from the eastern part, a small narthex adjoined the kafolikon from the western side. Later, a warm porch was attached to the porch (originally it was open). The altar and the narthex were approximately the same in width and height, thus creating a very balanced composition. The kafolicon was elongated in plan along the north-south axis. This technique is one of the characteristic features of the stone temples of Kargopol (similar proportions of the kafolicon have, for example, the churches of the Introduction of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Kargopol). In the north-western corner of the kafolicon there was a large 2x2.5 m oven. The temple had a very small height: the height of the kafolicon was about 6.5 m, and the total height to the cross ball was about 13 m. Such small size was explained by the fact that the temple was winter (warm). There are 2 surviving drawings of the Vvedensky temple: measurement by an unknown author of the late XIX century. and the plan in G.V.Alferova's book "Kargopol and Kargopolye". During the measurements, the Alferov roof of the building was no longer there, but the structure still retained its architectural appearance and specialists were able to photograph it, measure it and draw a plan. In old photographs, the barrel ends of the two apses are clearly visible. The covering of altar blocks with a system of barrels is a distinctive feature of the Kargopol architecture of the XVIII century. Such apse completions can be found on many wooden, and not even a few stone temples. The altars of two stone churches of Kargopol are completed with barrels: John the Baptist, built on Cathedral Square in 1740-1752, and the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, built in 1734-1751. The curved shape of the "barrel" is quite difficult to lay out of bricks, so the architects used the usual log construction of the barrel. The theme of barrels in the Vvedensky church echoed with the completion of the platbands above the windows. An example of such a solution can be found at the Assumption Cathedral of the Alexander-Oshevensky Monastery. As we can see, the non-preserved Vvedensky temple was extremely interesting, and had a number of unique features. He combined the material and forms of stone and wooden architecture, the features of provincial and urban architecture of Kargopol.

Currently, the first attempts are being made to revive the Makaryev Khergozersk desert.
